Category: Adventure | Drama | History

Director: Rodrigo Garcia

Stars: Ewan McGregor, Ciarans Hinds, Tye Sheridan, Ayelet Zurer

‘A holy man.. An endless desert.’

“The Desert is ruthless, strips you of rites, the illusions. Gives you an opportunity to see who you are.”

Tempted by Darkness – Haunted by Dreams – Driven by Destiny.

An imagined chapter to Jesus’ forty days of fasting and praying in the desert. On his way out of the wilderness, Jesus struggles with the Devil over the fate of a family in crisis. Blasphemy?

A haunting, beautiful movie. By keeping characterization and plotting to a minimum, Garcia has crafted a film in which he invites his audience to bring their own interpretations to a pensive story. Though its never made clear how witnessing a family deal with their specific issues affects Jesus’ own perspective on his destiny.

This is one for all the faithfuls to criticise and the fallen to be inspired.
